Views and experiences of End of Life Care for Adults in Newcastle: Engaging with Seldom Heard Groups

We are undertaking a review of end of life services for adults in Newcastle and are developing an End of Life Strategy and Action Plan.

As part of the review, we identified a gap in evidence from people from seldom hard groups about their experiences of end of life care as well as their preferences at this stage of life.

To feed into and influence the strategy to ensure the patient voice is heard, we carried out an engagement project that gathered these experiences, views and expectations.

People who were on their GP palliative care register and people from five seldom heard groups took part. Within the latter group, both carers of people who had died within the last two years and people with no experience of end of life care services were targeted.

Over 200 people shared their views as part of the project and our involvement partners Involve North East, produced the report below on the findings of the project.
