NHS Newcastle Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) proposes to commission practice based medicines optimisation support service for the population of Newcastle and Gateshead. The overall aim of the service is to support the CCG to improve the quality, safety and cost effective use of medicines in primary care, reduce variation in practice and improve health outcomes for patients. This will be achieved through the implementation of a medicines optimisation action plan, approved by the commissioner and implemented by the provider through the provision of high quality medicines optimisation support to all practices within the boundaries of the CCG.
A fundamental component of the service is that it works in an integrated way with the CCGs medicines optimisation team, GPs and GP practice teams to ensure multi-disciplinary working and a patient centred approach to achieve the optimal use of medicines and best outcomes for patients. There may be an option for this service to be divided into Lots.
The CCG wish to receive the views from potential providers on the potential service model for delivery of the service and are undertaking a market engagement exercise. If your organisation would like to receive a copy of the Request for Information documentation or register an interest in this service, please go to: https://in-Tendhost.co.uk/necs and navigate to NECS089 – Practice Based medicines Optimisation Support.
